Sometimes memories can live in our heads or can live in the acts we do to remember those lost.
Many locals are familiar with the story of Sloatsburger Jason Hruscik, who died suddenly in his sleep some six years ago now. Jason’s passing shocked his friends and family. Hruscik was young and healthy, a former runner for Suffern High School who taught at P.S. 85 in the Bronx and appeared to be just getting started in life.
The family was asked at the time about donating Jason’s organs, and that seemingly simple act lives on today. Continue Reading

Daniel Friedman began his career as a Ramapo Town Council member through a special appointment by Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence in 2010. Although Friedman’s official Ramapo voting record since that time has supported the Supervisor’s initiatives, the councilman from Spring Valley has also publicly distanced himself from St. Lawrence. The crew at Slaughter Stand-Up has used Characters in Sloatsburg, NY as a base for monthly comedy shows the past couple of years. The Slaughter Summer Showdown is the group’s summer comedy extravaganza – with round one running this week, Tuesday, June 17 and Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20.
